I Made A Wish Once
Taylor sat at his window looking up at the stars, it was the first fall of night so Taylor shot a wish up at the first star he saw, “I wish I may, and I wish with all might, for the love I’m dreaming of, and missing in my life,” he whispered to himself and the star. Taylor sat back and looked around his room. ‘I have to believe there is someone out there who ismeant for me.’ Taylor said to himself and stood up.

Across town in a little apartment, Taye sat up on the roof and looked up at the sky. ‘Dear Diary,’ she wrote and stopped looking up at the sky again. ‘Alone once more tonight without someone I love… You think I could find someone. Everyone else, Emily, Brittney and Melissa, they get what they wish for, all except for me. I can’t seem to give my heart one good reason why everyone else is in love, but me. I guess I’m just wishing on the wrong star. Signed, Unlucky’ she wrote down and closed her diary. She looked up at the sky and sighed. “Give me a break, ok?” she asked the star, “Starlight, Star bright, please give me a man tonight, or tomorrow or anytime this week,” she said and chuckled to herself. ‘This is never going to work,’ she thought as she gathered her things.

Taylor reached over and grabbed his alarm that was so rudely going off and tossed it across the room and shot up out of bed as it hit the wall and shattered into a million pieces. “Damnit!” Taylor cursed himself, “Note to self, buy a new alarm clock,” he said and stood up out of bed. He walked into the bathroom and put his hands on either side of the sink, “Ahh!” he screamed as he looked up, his hair was sticking up and he had wrinkles on his face from where he was sleeping on his pillow, “Those better go away before this stupid photo shoot thing,” he said to himself and ran cold water, grabbing his shaving cream and razor.
—-
Taye hated waking up late but for some reason she did today, “Oh no, oh no!” Taye said as she scurried across her bedroom floor looking for her shoes and her purse. She tripped over her rug and landed face down, “Oh there they are,” she said and reached under her bed, “Ouch,” she said once she moved. She grabbed her shoes and purse and stood up sitting on her bed to put on her shoes. “I am so going to get fired,” she said to herself as she latched the back to her high-healed shoes.

For lunch Taylor opted to be alone, he got out of his car and walked across 6th street to Boston and sat down. Cherries was the only cafe on the block that was so close to where he and his brothers would be doing a photo shoot, and interview for the news and a local paper for the release of their new album. He sighed and took in the fresh air as he noticed a girl walking up to sit down that looked down in the dumps. He then wondered what had happened to make her look so unhappy. He brushed it off when the waiter come over and asked him what he would like to drink and handed him a paper menu. “I would like a water and just the turkeysandwich.” he told the waiter.
“Alright sir, would you like that on white or wheat?” he asked.
“Wheat, please.” He answered and watched the waiter go to the girl’s table.
“I would just like a glass of water and a turkey sandwich,” The girl told
the waiter.
“White or Wheat?” he asked.
“White,” Taye told him and smiled.
Taylor chuckled to himself, because she had almost ordered the same meal
as him. Taylor thought about going over and talking to her, asking her why
she had, had such a bad day, but he thought about how weird it would be;
or what if she recognized him? He watched her pull out a book and he soon
lost the sight of her face. She was rather pretty, blonde hair, and what
he thought were blue eyes. He smiled watching her read the book, and
realized he just finished reading the same book.
“This is odd,” he said to himself.
“What is odd sir?” The waiter asked.
Taylor jumped, “I’m sorry. I didn’t see you standing there. I was kind of
talking to myself.” he told the waiter, and realized his name was Luke.
“No problem, sir. Here is your food,” Luke responded setting down his plate.
“I didn’t even realize you brought me my drink so thanks. That was quick.”
Taylor said and smiled.

As soon as Taye got back into her office she threw her purse onto her desk
and sat down into her seat, “How was your day?” Taye’s friend Brittney
asked.
“Horrible, I woke up late, but thankfully Trisha didn’t notice, on my way
to lunch I got stopped by a police man, but I didn’t get a ticket, thank
God.” she said and sighed.
Brittney laughed, “Taye I would say that was a lucky day.” she pointed out.
Taye stopped and thought about it, “I didn’t look at it that way,” she
said and smiled.
“Well I have some good news, you landed the three o’clock job if you want
it.” Brittney told her, “And you will never guess who it is,” she stated.
“Who?” Taye asked curious.
“The guy you’ve been crushing on since we did the story on him last
August,” Brittney said trying to cheer her up.
Taye rolled her eyes, “You’ve had that job for the past week and a half
now,” she told her.
“I know, but I talked to Trisha and she said I could switch with you if I
needed to,” Brittney told her.
Taye shook her head, “I think I will stick with my four o’clock so after
it’s done I can go home,” she told her best friend.
“It’s not everyday you get to interview the guy you have a crush on,”
Brittney teased.
“Then you develop a crush on him and interview him for me,” Taye said and
smirked.
Brittney sighed, “Well I was just offering, besides he’s not my type,” she
told her.
“Thanks for the offer, but I really would just like to steer clear of guys
for awhile,” Taye lied and opened her desk drawer.
“Okay, well I will see you tomorrow then, are we still on for the movie
and popcorn night?” Brittney asked.
“Sure are,” Taye said and smiled.
—-
Taylor sighed, “Give me the phone and I will call and make sure that they
still want the interview today,” he told Isaac who was looking thru a list
of things they had to do before touring.
Zac threw the phone to Taylor and he looked up the number and dialed,
“Hello you’ve reached Taye, I am either not at my desk or on a call, if
you leave your name and number I will gladly call you back as soon as I
become available,” the phone went silent, followed by a long beep.
“Uh, yes. This is Taylor Hanson, and I just wanted to make sure that the
appointment for today was still on. I’m not sure if it is you I am
supposed to talk to but please call me back, thanks bye.” Taylor said and
hung up.
“Dude, you didn’t leave a number,” Zac pointed out and laughed.
Taylor sighed, “Shit. Oh well they should have the number, they are the
one’s that called us to begin with,” he said and threw the phone to Isaac.
“Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning,” Zac said and
grinned.
Taylor rolled his eyes, “No, I’m just having a bad day.” he told his
brother and propped his feet up on the coffee table in front of him.

Taye groaned and grabbed her purse, “Betty will you tell Trisha I stepped
out for a bit, I have to go and get my notes from my house, I will be back
before 3.” she told the lady at the front desk.
“Sure thing, Taye.” Betty said and watched Taye leave the building.
Taye couldn’t think sitting in her office. Everything was a mess and she
didn’t know what else to do. She walked across Denver and over to 8th
street and into the parking lot where her car was parked.
“Excuse me,” someone called out to Taye.
Taye didn’t look back she kept walking. “Excuse me!” someone called out
again but closer.
“Yes?” Taye finally gave up and turned around.
“You left this at the cafe earlier,” A tall, pale guy said walking closer
to her.
“What?” Taye asked and noticed she recognized the guy standing in front of
her.
“I’m sorry but after you left the cafe I noticed you had left your book
sitting on the table, so I picked it up,” He said and held out her book.
Taye smiled, “Thanks a lot. I would have been missing it,” she said.
Taylor nodded, “The ending is the best part,” he told her.
“You’ve read it?” Taye asked shocked.
Taylor nodded, “It was recommended to me from a friend,” he told her.
“Listen earlier I didn’t want to be rude, but I couldn’t’ help but notice
you were looking kind of upset,” Taylor said and looked down at his hands.
Taye laughed, “It’s been one of those days,” she said and smiled.
Taylor nodded, “I didn’t follow you here, I just wanted you to know.” he
said.
Taye smiled, “You left a message for me today,” she told him.
Taylor shook his head, “And I didn’t leave a number,” he said and took his
fingers thru his hair.
Taye nodded, “You would be surprised how many people do that,” she told him.
“This is just weird to me,” Taylor commented, “Listen I don’t normally do
this, but would you mind going to dinner with me tonight?” he asked scared
that she would say no.
Taye bit at her bottom lip, “I… well.” she said looking down at her hands.
“Oh! I’m so stupid. I’m sorry, I should have asked. If you have a
boyfriend then I’m sorry I really should have asked first.” Taylor said
and slapped his hand to his forehead.
Taye smiled and shook her head, “No, no boyfriend. I mean, it is weird,”
she said and thought a moment, “but I guess what the hell… sure.” she
accepted.
Taylor smiled, “Awesome, here is my number.” he said pulling out a card
and handing it to her.
“Thanks,” Taye said and smiled, “Actually I guess I will see you at
three?” she asked and smirked.
Taylor nodded, “I guess I will,” he said and they both walked off.
—-
“Did you talk to them?” Isaac asked pulling a pencil from behind his ear.
“Actually, I did. I actually landed a date with the girl that is
interviewing us.” Taylor said and blushed.
Isaac rolled his eyes, “Figures, only you would leave to make an
appointment and come back with a date,” he said and licked the tip of his
pencil.
Taylor laughed, “Why do you do that?” he asked, and shook his head.
“Do what?” Isaac asked confused.
“Lick the tip of the pencil,” Taylor said, “That is just gross,” he added.
“I don’t know, I just do.” Isaac said, “And don’t change the subject on
me. You haven’t had a girlfriend in awhile why are you jumping into the
dating world again?” he asked.
“I knew you would ask that,” Taylor said and walked past Isaac.
“Well, I just worry about my little brother,” Isaac said and stopped
Taylor, “Is she hot?” he asked smirking.
Taylor sighed, “Yes she is, and enough questions. Please?” he asked.
Isaac smiled, “Okay. For now.” he said and walked off.
—-
Taye threw her head back, “But Brit, I don’t know him that well,” she said
and held the phone with her shoulder.
“That is the point of dating isn’t it?” Brittney asked.
“I don’t know. I guess you’re right,” Taye said, a smile plastered on her
face.
Brittney smiled, “Besides, maybe he’s the one you’ve been dreaming of,”
she commented.
“Oh, give me a break,” Taye said, “Besides it’s probably some just some
way for him to get laid, he’s famous and probably thinking I will be an
easy score because I know he’s famous,” she thought aloud.
“Taye! Stop that. You always talk about wanting to find a guy, but you
always find something wrong with them,” Brittney pointed out.
“That isn’t my fault!” Taye defended.
“Right it’s not your fault. Girl I love you, but it’s in your head. If you
come back and tell me some crap like, ‘He had a piece of green stuff in
his teeth’ or ‘His nails were dirty’. That doesn’t mean you should date
him.” Brittney told her laughing.
“I’m not that bad!” Taye said laughing herself, “Okay, okay. I’ll give it
a really good shot, but not because I think he’s a really sexy guy.
Because I want to get to know him.” she said.
“Good, and don’t wear the black dress, you aren’t going to a funeral,”
Brittney said.
“Speak for yourself. That is my way of mourning my love life, because it’s
dead.” Taye retorted.
Brittney burst into giggles, “Okay, Taye. Just keep in mind; he’s a person
just like you. Give him a shot, he’s probably a great guy,” she told her.

“This is what, the fourth date you’ve been on this week?” Isaac asked his
brother.
“I don’t know I lost count a month ago,” Taylor said and smiled.
Isaac nodded, “You really like this girl, don’t you?” he asked.
“Yes, I really do.” Taylor said and looked up at Isaac.
“Have a good time,” Isaac said and waved his brother off.
“Thanks, I’ll see you later,” Taylor said and walked out of the room and
to his car. It didn’t take long and he pulled up to Taye’s apartment door
to take her to his favorite place to relax. Taye waved and shut the door
behind her.
“Thanks for picking me up.” Taye said as soon as she reached Taylor’s car.
“It’s cool. I had a little bit of a battle with that apartment gate but
someone finally let me in,” Taylor said and blushed.
“So, where to?” Taye asked.
“It’s a place I like to go to, to relax.” Taylor said.
“Oh awesome. I had a long day today and I could use some of that,” Taye
said and grinned. Taylor leaned over and gave her a kiss.
The car ride to the lake wasn’t very long, but it was quiet. Taye was
thinking about the wish she had made the night before she met Taylor. They
finally reached the lake and Taylor parked by the water.
“Looks like this is as close as I can get,” Taylor finally spoke.
Taye nodded, “I can walk, I have two legs.” she joked.
Taylor got out and walked around the car and opened Taye’s door. “Let me
grab this stuff out of the trunk and I will met you down there. Find any
place you want,” he told her.
Taye nodded and walked off to find the perfect spot for their day of
relaxation. She stopped as soon as she saw the perfect spot. Taylor soon
showed up with a blanket, and a bag.
“What’s in the bag?” Taye asked.
“Food, drinks, and a surprise,” Taylor said and handed the blanket to Taye.
Taye unfolded the blanket and laid it on the ground, “There that should do
it,” she said and sat down.
After chatting thru their lunch, Taylor sat back and sighed, “I think I
ate to much,” he said and laughed.
“Did you make up this all yourself?” Taye asked. Taylor nodded, “I’m
impressed,” she added.
Taylor looked at her confused, “What do you mean?” he asked.
“A guy that can think for himself, and actually put together something
this awesome. That is a very big change for me,” Taye confessed.
Taylor smiled, “I guess my parents are to thank for that one.” he said.
“I will be sure to thank them,” Taye said and smirked.
“I have to leave soon,” Taylor said and leaned back on his hands.
“Where?”
“We are going on tour,”
“Oh yeah, that’s right.”
Taylor sighed, “I would offer for you to go with us, but I don’t want to
be rude or make you feel like you are obligated to go.” he told her.
Taye smiled, “Well I would love to go, but I have a job to worry about and
all of that,” she said and looked down at her hands.
“It doesn’t change anything, either. I don’t want you to think because you
can’t go, we are over.” Taylor tried to assure her.
Taye nodded, “Well that makes me feel better.” she said and smiled.
Taylor reached into his pocket, “I got you something to help assure you,”
he said. Taye’s heart began to pound. “It’s a bracelet. I wanted it to
remind you that I care about you a lot, and I would like us to continue.”
Taylor said and handed her a black rectangle box.
“It’s gorgeous, Taylor.” Taye said and smiled pulling it from the box.
“I had hoped you would like it,” Taylor said and smiled, “Would you wear
it for me?” he asked. Taye nodded and Taylor helped her put it on.
Taye smiled, “Do you believe in fate?” she asked still looking at the
bracelet.
Taylor thought a moment, “Sometimes.” he said.
“What about wishes?”
“I would have to say yes,”
“Why?” Taye asked intrigued.
“I made a wish once, and it came true,” Taylor said and sat up.
Taye nodded, “Me, too.” she said.
